Local water, local crews
Water in the Treasure Valley changes from one town to the next, and sometimes from one street to the next. Some homes are on a city system, some are on a private water company's system, and homes on acreage often have their own wells.
That's why every job starts with a water test. On city water, it's free and done at your home. On a well, we set up a certified lab test. Advice that fits your house is worth more than a one-size answer for the whole valley.
Licensed journeyman plumbers do our installs, and we stay close by for salt refills, annual service and retesting.

City water and private wells in the valley
Most homes here get their water one of two ways. Each comes with its own common problems.
| City water | Private well | |
|---|---|---|
| Who tests it | Your water provider, on a set schedule, with a yearly report | Only you, the owner |
| Disinfection | Most systems here use chlorine | None, unless you add treatment |
| Common issues | Hardness, chlorine taste and smell | Hardness, iron, sulfur smell, nitrate, arsenic, bacteria |
| What often helps | Softener, whole-home filtration, reverse osmosis | Well treatment matched to your test, often with UV |
Many Treasure Valley homes test hard or very hard on either source. A test at your tap is the only way to know your number.
A closer look at well water
Idaho DEQ has found nitrate levels rising in groundwater in parts of Ada and Canyon counties, and some Canyon County wells have tested above the standard for arsenic. The EPA limits are 10 mg/L for nitrate (as nitrogen) and 10 ppb for arsenic.
A yearly test tells you where your own well stands. If treatment makes sense, our well water page walks through the options.
Many newer homes on city water were built with a softener loop already plumbed in, usually in the garage. That makes a water softener install simpler.
