Why a yearly visit matters

Your softener works out of sight, so problems grow quietly. A yearly visit catches them while they are small.

Resin life. The resin beads do the softening. Iron, sediment and chlorine wear them down. Caught early, a resin cleaning or settings change can help them last longer.

Salt use. A hardness setting that is too high wastes salt and water. Too low, and hard water slips through. We set it to match today's test.

Leaks. A slow drip at a fitting or a slipped drain line is easy to fix in the garage. It is much harder once it has soaked into drywall or flooring.

Your water heater. Sediment and scale settle in the bottom of the tank. A yearly flush clears it out, and we check the rest of your plumbing while we are there.

Your warranty. If we installed your system, its limited lifetime warranty stays active as long as it gets this yearly service.

What we check on every annual visit

We go through the same list every time, so nothing gets skipped.

Water retest

  • Hardness before and after the softener, in grains per gallon
  • Iron and pH if you are on a well
  • Total dissolved solids at the drinking water tap if you have reverse osmosis
  • A side-by-side comparison with your last report

Valve and cycle check

  • Fill: the brine tank refills with the right amount of water
  • Brine draw: the valve pulls brine from the tank through the resin
  • Backwash: water flows up through the resin to loosen sediment
  • Rinse: leftover brine and hardness are flushed to the drain
  • Service: the valve returns to normal and soft water flows to the house

Parts inspection

  • Piston, for wear or scoring that can let hard water pass
  • Seals, for cracks, swelling or drips
  • Motor, for smooth and steady movement
  • Gears, for worn or chipped teeth
  • Circuit board, for moisture, corrosion or error codes
  • Flow and position sensors, for accurate readings

Settings

  • Hardness setting matched to today's test
  • Clock and time of day, which often drift after a power outage
  • Regeneration schedule, set for when you use the least water
  • Salt used per regeneration, tuned to avoid waste
  • Bypass valve, checked so it turns freely and seals fully

Tank and drain

  • Brine tank cleaned of sludge and old salt
  • Salt bridges found and broken up
  • Drain line checked for kinks, slips and a proper air gap
  • Every fitting checked for drips and tightened as needed

Water heater flush

  • Sediment and scale flushed from the bottom of the tank
  • Drain valve checked so it closes without a drip
  • Water heater connections checked for leaks

Full plumbing inspection

  • Visible pipes, fittings and shutoff valves checked for leaks and wear
  • Water pressure checked
  • Anything that needs attention shown to you, with your options explained

Report and recommendations

  • A written report of your test results and what we found
  • Clear recommendations, listed by what matters most
  • A price for any part before we replace it

How the visit goes

  1. Reach out

Send the form on our contact page or call (208) 860-4239, and we'll set a time.

  2. We test first

Before we touch anything, we test your water so we know what the softener is up against.

  3. We inspect and tune

We work through the checklist, flush your water heater, inspect your plumbing and fix small issues on the spot when we can.

  4. You get the report

We explain what we found in plain language. Any bigger repair is your call, and you get a written quote first.

Your report

A written report you can keep

Every visit ends with a short written report. It lists your test results, the settings we left the softener on, and anything we noticed.

Next year we compare against it, so you can see whether anything changed in your water or your system.

What we’d tell you: a softener sized for your household, plus whole-home carbon for the chlorine. You get a written quote before we leave.

Leaks should not wait for the yearly visit

Annual service is for routine care. If you see water on the floor, put the softener in bypass and call us at (208) 860-4239.

Annual service questions

How much does annual service cost?

It depends on your system, and we quote it when you book. Parts are extra, and we give you the price before we replace anything.

Does annual service keep my warranty active?

Yes. Every system we install comes with a limited lifetime warranty, and it stays active as long as the system gets its yearly annual service.

Do you service softeners you did not install?

Yes. We service any brand of water softener. Tell us the brand when you book, or send a photo of the valve and tank label.

My softener is only a year or two old. Does it need service?

Yes. The first visit confirms the settings still match your water and catches early changes, like a drain line that has shifted.

Can you change my filters on the same visit?

Yes. Tell us what you have when you book, and we will bring the cartridges or reverse osmosis parts so it all happens in one trip.
