Water softeners and water treatment for Treasure Valley homes

Know what’s in your water.

We test your water, explain what we find in plain words and give you a written quote on the spot. The in-home test is free on city water. If you go ahead, a licensed journeyman plumber installs it, usually in about 2 hours. Then we look after it for years.

How hard is your water?

Hardness is the amount of calcium and magnesium in your water, measured in grains per gallon (gpg). Many Treasure Valley homes test hard or very hard. Your free test shows your exact number.

Scale: U.S. Geological Survey hardness classes. 1 grain per gallon = 17.1 mg/L as calcium carbonate.

How it works

Four steps, and you decide after step two.

  1. We test your water

A free in-home test on city water for hardness, pH, TDS, nitrates and chlorine. On a well, we set up a certified lab test instead.

  2. We explain it

You get your results in plain words, what we’d recommend and a written quote. No pressure.

  3. A plumber installs it

A licensed journeyman plumber installs your system, usually in about 2 hours, and checks your home’s plumbing while we’re there.

  4. We look after it

Salt refills when you want them, annual service and retesting, so the system keeps doing its job for years.

Why we do this

It started with a ranch well

Our owner grew up on a ranch where arsenic in the well water affected his mother’s health. He’s also sensitive to the chlorine in city water, so he knows both sides of the valley’s water.

So we start every visit the same way: test the water, show you the numbers and explain what they mean. Then you decide what to do about it.

Newer homes

A new house doesn’t mean soft water

Many newer homes in the valley were built with a softener loop already plumbed in, often in the garage. The loop is there because builders know the water is hard. It still needs the right system on it.

Builder-grade softeners are often sized for an average house, not yours. We size every system to your test results and how many people live in the home.

  • Scale in a water heater cuts its efficiency and its life
  • Spots on shower glass and dishes come back days after cleaning
  • Fixtures and appliances wear faster with hard water

Common questions

Is the water test really free?

Yes, for city water. We come to your home, test your water and walk you through the results. There’s no charge and no obligation. Private wells need a certified lab test, which has a lab fee.

How much does a water softener cost?

It depends on your water and your home. We price in person after testing, so you get a written quote at your free water test. See how pricing works.

Who installs the system?

A licensed journeyman plumber, every time. Each install includes a check of your home’s plumbing.

Do I have to add salt myself?

You can, and it doesn't come up often. Our systems are efficient, so most homes add salt only every 4 to 6 months. If you'd rather not, text us at (208) 860-4239 and we'll swing by to top it off. See salt refills.

I’m on a well. Can you help?

Yes. We set up a certified lab test for your well. There is a lab fee, and results take about a week. Then we design the system around the report. Start with our well water page.
